This week the annual Discovery 50 report was published by RWRC – home of Retail Week and World Retail Congress. The report showcases the world’s top tech start-ups and highlights the innovative solutions that can support the retail sector – both during the pandemic and in the future.
StorIQ was honoured, not only to be included on the list, but to be celebrated as a ‘Judges’ Top Pick’ and one of ten start-ups that have ‘the greatest potential to transform retail’.
Retailers around the world are scrutinising their business models more closely than ever in an attempt to adapt to the impacts of the coronavirus crisis, and in order to best position themselves in the post-crisis world of commerce. The partnership between traditional retailers and tech start-ups offering disruptive solutions will become increasingly important as the retail economy continues to change.
Diana Parker, the Strategy Director of Worldwide Commercial Business at Microsoft, recently remarked that ‘where technology was historically used by retailers to keep the lights on, it is no longer a utility, but essential to the strategic transformation of retail offerings and operations in an increasingly challenging environment’.
We firmly believe that stores are the future of retail. The industry may be changing rapidly, but brick-and-mortars do not have to be left behind.
